DALE CONTRACT

FCPS Superintendent Jake Dale’s contract is up for a vote. In question is the length of the contract being offered, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years.

What do you think about Dr Dale's performance?

Let your School Board member know what your opinion is by going to www.fcps.edu.

Fire Dale now or fire the incumbants later.

I do believe that extending a contract to Dr. Dale is not in the best interest of of our teaching community. If Dr. Dale's contract is renewed, he will be having a salary increase and a very nice package of benefits that we teachers didn't get.

It is my opinion that his contract should not be renewed and if renewed the benefit package should not be included. So that he could feel what teachers are going through.

I would like to have a new Superintendent. Teachers need to look for a professional who not only supports the students, but takes care of a our teaching community, which I did not see reflected this year with his decisions.

What has Dr. Dale actually done to move this county forward? What initiatives to keep FCPS a world-class district has he brought to the table other than an extended contract for teachers?

Since the inception of his leadership, even when times were good, the student/teacher ratio on all fronts has increased. Has anyone looked into the changes in staffing for Special Education and ESOL lately? It is a travesty on all fronts. And for what?

Don't misunderstand me, our school just decided to have a slightly higher class ratio in order to "afford" a math specialist; someting that we despretely need since we get no Title I staffing eventhough our numbers "are almost there, but not quite".

There CAN be justification for larger classes, but what have we really gotten other than more accountability, more "After School Specials" and more to do with little more to do it with?

In these difficult economic times, that single employee of FCPS receives a disturbingly large amount of money, bonuses and extra benefits while the rest of the employees have not had a raise in 2years and programs are being cut right and left. The pricipals are being told to point their fingers at the staff and ask "what are you going to do about this problem?" which can include raising SOL scores or problems in the classroom. (Do they really think shifting the blame is goin to work?) This is asked without any support being offered to teachers already overburdened and approaching burnout. If that man wants to keep working for FCPS, then extend his contract for 2 years (so we don't have to undergo another long, expensive "search" for a new superintendent) without a raise, and take his bonuses and use them to hire more teachers or to support programs. For example, ESOL teachers have very high numbers of students, exhaustive paperwork that includes students not "officially" on their workload but have to be tested and accounted for anyway, and no support to help out or to relieve their workload other than what is provided by our overburdened department. Yet if those students don't pass the SOL's, guess who gets blamed? Jack Dale is no shining star and no one deserves the amount of money he is pulling in. Remember the backlash against bloated CEO's? Well . . .

I cautiously agree with President Bumbaca and support a two year extension. We will watch to see what initiatives are put forth to reinstate, at the very minimum, step increases which affect compensation for years and impact retirement.

Recently at one of the FEA Rep Assemblies, a lively member discussion occurred about a vote of no confidence in the Superientendent. It was obvious: the members were frustrated with Dr. Dale and wanted him out. Comment after comment of FEA media showed the disgust the members have with Dale's leadership.

But now I read FEA leaders RECOMMEND a two year EXTENSION on Dale's contract!

What are YOU (FEA Leaders) thinking? why would you do something like this when it is clear the members want him OUT!?

He got a FOUR year extension. Goes to show how little our school board cares about teachers or parents or students. Why do we keep voting for these clowns?
