SALARY INCREASE BEING KICKED TO THE CURB

If Jack Dale and Kevin North were working as hard to find a solution to paying FCPS employees more as they are to defeat every idea and concept that is being offered we could have a step and a COLA. They continue to repeat that YOU DO NOT WANT A RAISE!

Fortunately, there are several School Board members who are beginning to question the facts and figures which are being tossed around.

Strategic Governance is based solely on trust. You must trust the reports the administration is providing.

More and more information being provided by staff is full of holes, not complete, or diversionary.

Let's hope that the School Board can find 7 votes to help the FCPS staff.

What kind of raise is the Superintendent contractually guaranteed this year? Does he have the same health insurance programs as FCPS employees?

Is there any way for us to find out what kind of raise the Superintendent gets? Freedom of Information Act anyone? I'll bet he doesn't have to fool with Express Scripts!

Free Health care? A driver? plus more perks?
While his employees are trying to get by on 21,000 per year FULL TIME?

Shame on YOU Dr. Dale!

Dale makes just shy of $300,000.

When he was recently asked by the School Board to pay a portion of his health insurance, he said oh no I have a contract.

What do FCPS employees have. I guess yoru right....we have Express Scripts...yah

It is time for FEA and employees to step-up and let the board really know what we think. I've met very few people that feel we don't want a raise, actually, I haven't met any.

I have a family that is my number one concern, and I feel my families financial integrity is being threatened. Beyond that, I don't feel my best interests are being accurately represented.

What are the reasons Dr.Dale uses to support the idea that FCPS employees "do not want a raise"?

Why is it that teachers are the one group of professionals who are required to have so much education and training and are always being asked to receive less than any other professional in return? We are expected to work more than our contracted hours-because that's just what teachers do. We donate our time on the weekend-because that is what teachers do. Now, we don't get a raise- because that is what teachers need to do? At what point does it stop? When will teachers be valued as the professionals that they are?

I think our priorities are a bit confused.

If Dr. Dale and the top ranking officials in FCPS "leadership" are going to say that there is no place to go for more funding after they just said "no thanks, we have enough money" to the board of supervisors, then I guess that it is time we asked our elected School Board to step in and start helping make some sane decisions to help FCPS employees.

The Teacher Leadership Initiative that is shown to have been a failure needs to be discontinued and that money put into all employee raises, not just a handful of those who were arbitrarily picked in the first place.

Fund a step for all and do it now!

With no COLA and no step, our salaries are actually worth less, since we have to pay more for everyday necessities. I suspect our health care payments will go up this year as well. It is so easy to balance the budget by eliminating COLA and steps, but there are many other areas where spending could and should be examined. Why take it out on us?

I'm not sure if my last post went through or not, so I am re-posting. I was just wondering if Teacher Work Days could be used differently? Could trainings/InServices be done after school? What happens to the snow days that we don't use?

Next year I would finally have made it to the next longevity step. Now I'm stuck @ the same pay for a 3rd straight year! This is affecting my single-family income for the rest of my life. Jack Dale should find a way for these loyal employees to have their longevity step increase if they are eligible. He adjusted the entry level pay to attract good teachers, but what is he doing to award his most experienced teachers?

I received an email that asked FCPS teachers to complete a survey. This times I decided not too. When I completed the last survey, Dr, Dale used it against the teachers saying, "We wouuld gladly give up our raises to save another teacher's job"
No! I would not gladly do this. The survey presented a hypothetical situation. There was no indication anywhere in the survey that he intended to take the results to the school board.

I want and very much need my raise.

In my 22 years in the county, I see an awful lot of money wasted on Maintenance workers. When something gets called in for repair, you have 4 or 5 men show up to put in 1 little part into a piece of equiptment. If there is so little for them to do then some of their jobs could be eliminated instead of losing people in the schools' that actually deal with the children on a regular basis. I have 4 men right now, here replacing a little timer. Very Disappointed.

Fellow FEA Members,

Finally we are getting some response from FEA members. It is nice to see that I'm not the only one that doesn't feel we have been treated well. Many of you feel we are paying the price. When times were good, we didn't get paid, when times are bad we get a financial demotion.

Obviously many of you feel the same way, but either can't come to a rally or feel secure speaking up publically. I challenge FEA and members to come up with an alternate way for us to speak-up, besides a rally that always seems to fall on a night when my wife has class, or my kids have practice. Come on folks, let's brainstorm some ideas that can really show the board how we really feel about no raise, about money being spent we don't agree with......

If it doesn't come from us in mass, we are in for the same treatment over and over.

I encourage all members to speak-up, get involved, and I challenge FEA to pull us all together in a new and different way so our response can be stronger. Maybe FEA could call members and ask them to participate in an e-mail chain, petition, etc....we are smart enough toeducate all these children, i know we can protect our families and futures just as well.

As a Maint. person I am very disappointed to see that teachers, who are clearly clueless as to the fact that their very SAFETY and Comfort come from the maint. dept., continue their elitist attacks on the blue collar community. Lets elimnate Music, Theater, Art, Sports, ESOL and free lunches. While we are trimming Maint people lets start shutting down schools. How about closing and selling 4 HS, 6 MS, and 12 ES. I won't care if there are 50 kids to a class. I mean how many teachers do you need to teach a subject?

What survey of the shows that we FCPS employees don't want/need/deserve some kind of attention to our situation? It is one thing for the county to force the issue of deserved pay increases (even during the "sood" years), but to have a superintendent who is deaf to his employees is another.
I've long made it known my distaste for the longevity steps in favor of a more fair system which at least sees step pay increases through the first 30 years of service. Now many employees will find their pay completely frozen for an extra year. You KNOW the county and current sperintendent will not make up for this even if the county money situation quickly gets much better.
If Dale must be approved for an extention, then I think it should be for the minimum 2 years. In addition, his first year should have no pay increase of any sort and his second year should be limited to our own percent pay increase. I also think that should be true for any future superintendent contracts.
